NavKanMY (Navigasi Kanser Malaysia) is a web-based digital prototype developed to support breast cancer screening and early diagnostic navigation, particularly for underserved inner-city (B40) communities in the Klang Valley. The project addresses the absence of a unified, digitalised pathway to guide patients from risk identification to timely referral.
The system integrates breast cancer self-assessment, structured risk records, and role-specific AI chatbots for patients and clinicians. Patients receive guided screening and clear navigation on next steps, while clinicians gain longitudinal visibility of screening data to support oversight and referral decisions. All data are securely stored in the cloud.
A key innovation is the use of AI-driven Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) grounded in the Ministry of Health Breast Cancer Clinical Practice Guidelines, ensuring accurate, evidence-based information. The platform functions strictly as a screening and navigation support tool, not for diagnosis or treatment.
The prototype was piloted at Klinik Kesihatan Taman Medan, where users reported high satisfaction (4.7/5) and strong willingness to recommend the system.
Importantly, NavKanMY serves as a prototype and primer for a fully digitalised cancer navigation system, intentionally designed around ethical, inclusive, and people-centred principles to support real-world societal uptake. By merging compassionate human care with AI-guided navigation, the platform not only empowers patients but also reduces clinical navigation burden, supporting healthcare providers and laying the foundation for a scalable, equitable, and sustainable digital cancer care pathway.
